Our Story

Our family's pack is comprised of four beloved rescue companions: Levi, a Shepherd mix and my firstborn son; Grace, a Shepherd mix and the daughter I never had; and our sweet granddaughters Kuma and Hana, both spirited Dobermans, who belong to my human son. Each of them hails from California, arriving with their own unique tales, insecurities, and challenges. Despite their differences, they've seamlessly blended into our big, happy family. They hold individual places in our hearts, cherished equally.

When we relocated them to Connecticut, my son and I vowed to give our furry family members the life they deserved—one filled with love, happiness, and stability against the backdrop of the countryside. We wanted them to be pampered, to experience endless adventures, and to want for nothing. It's our belief that all pets should live as royally as ours.

We made a commitment to educate ourselves about the ingredients in our pets food and treats after watching the eye-opening documentary series, "Pet Fooled." Armed with knowledge about the harsh realities of commercial pet "food," we couldn't turn a blind eye. Dissatisfied with the lack of healthy treat options on the market, we took matters into our own hands, crafting handmade dog treats to ensure their health and well-being.

Thus, "Dog and Hen" was born from countless hours of dedication and hard work. Our vision? Gourmet Dog Treats—not just for our spoiled pets, but for every dog (and even cats). Handcrafted in Connecticut using only the finest ingredients sourced from the U.S.A., our treats are the embodiment of our dream.

Our Chicken Jerky is crafted from 100% U.S.D.A. Boneless Chicken Breast—no steroids, hormones, or antibiotics, ever. We believe in keeping things simple and doing them right. Every batch is made in small quantities, allowing us to uphold the highest standards of quality. We promise to deliver healthy ingredients that produce superior treats for all pups to enjoy.

At "Dog and Hen," we didn't want to follow the crowd. Our Pack Chefs tirelessly worked to create a "Gourmet" feed line that sets our treats apart from the rest.  Specializing in "Gourmet Chicken Jerky," we offer four distinct marinade blends exclusive to our menu.

Your purchase enables us to support rescue organizations close to our hearts, striving for a world where every dog has a chance at a good life. We believe no dog should endure abuse, hunger, or homelessness. That's why we conduct monthly treat mailings and deliveries to our partnered rescues, animal control facilities, and K-9 officers, bringing joy to lucky dogs everywhere.
